Planning for Your Stay
Our hope for your time at SUN Behavioral is one of healing and recovery. To ensure that this is possible for you and all of our patients, we do have specific requests for items that you should bring as well as items that are not allowed.
What to bring with you
- Casual outfits – for a maximum of three days
- Shoes without shoestrings
- Socks
- Underwear
- T-shirts & long-sleeved shirts
- Robes with no attached strings or belts
- Bras without underwires
- Sleepwear that is not sheer or revealing
- Jacket without strings attached
- Tobacco products (cigarettes)
- Shampoo and conditioner in unbreakable bottles — glass is not allowed
- Toothbrush and toothpaste (unopened)
- Comb and/or brush
- List of medications
- Books or magazines are permitted
- Cell phones (permitted as programming permits)
Items not allowed
- Aerosol products
- Volatile solvents — such as fingernail polish remover
- Belts or scarves
- Cameras of any kind
- Computers
- Containers made of glass or breakable plastic
- Drawstrings in clothing
- All drugs — prescription, OTC, herbal or street
- Food and beverages brought in from the outside
- Glass mirrors, including encased cosmetics
- Matches and lighters
- Other items that may be used by a patient that could be used to harm self or others — at staff discretion
- Plastic bags or cellophane
- Provocative or inappropriate clothing
- Recording devices of any kind
- Sharp objects — including, but not limited to, scissors, metal nail files, tweezers, razors, or anything with an edge that can conceivably be used for harm to self or other
- Shoelaces
- Toys and games
- Videos and video games
- Weapons of any kind, including martial arts weapons
- Cash
- Heat-producing and/or corded personal care products — such as shavers, hair dryers and curling irons
- Clothing with gang slogans, drug paraphernalia, vulgarity, or politically incorrect statements
